September News

Well, what a month both myself and Quest Baits have had!

Two different 54lb Carp from two different waters in the same week – then back home to face moving Quest Baits for the third time in two years!

Yes, we have outgrown the Pasture Road premises which served us well for these last 18 months. We have now taken the plunge and moved out into the beautiful British countryside good and proper. Yew Tree Farm is seemingly situated miles from anywhere and with breathtaking views – a lovely working environment indeed.

With much more space than ever before we can again move forward and look towards developing even more product. Storage space was always a problem at Pasture Road but now this is sorted I am looking forward to buying a few things in to ‘play around with’.

Our website remains the same as does our 08448 000 345 telephone number. If however you had our old 0115 949 0523 number – this is now redundant.

You can contact us direct on the telephone between the hours of 8am and 4pm. A answer phone service will be operating outside these hours and we will endeavour to get back to you as soon as we can.

We are still having post re-directed from our original address which was The Old Mill House, PO Box 8758, Nottingham NG9 9BB.

Our new address is; Yew Tree Farm, Deep Lane, Hardstoft, Chesterfield, Derbyshire, S45 8AE

Visits are strictly by appointment only.

The move has put us back a little in terms of production etc... but we certainly haven’t been sat on our laurels. We have a few new developments including 10mm boilies which we will release before winter sets in properly. Stocks are being built at the moment. Expected release time will be mid October.

I have also been doing a lot of experimenting with different floating pellets. Some have been hopeless and others have been quite simply astonishing. These experiments along with the perfection of the Liver B8 which will be released Spring 2008 have kept me very busy in the carp study stakes. I feel so fortunate at having several waters at my disposal where I can watch the carp’s reaction to different food sources rather than have to run blind trusting bobbin activity to tell me what they like and don’t like.

I mentioned the two different 54’s at the beginning of this piece. Well, I have still to come down to earth after these. Didn’t quite manage to beat my personal Quest Baits caught best but with such cracking looking fish – who cares?

Your Mission - Our Passion

Those few words say so much because they sum up the whole philosophy of our company. If your mission is to catch more carp then our passion is to help you do it. This bait range is the culmination of the bait knowledge I've gained throughout my carp fishing career, a journey which started in the 1970's. It has truly been a long and winding road - frustrating at times, fascinating and rewarding at others.

I consider myself most fortunate to have grown up with bait. When I started work in the tackle trade over 25 years ago, paste and boilie ingredients were only just starting to find their way onto the shelves. There were only a handful of ingredients available at the time and it didn't take me long to work out what each ingredient did and how its inclusion would alter a boilie mix. Carp anglers were hungry for new ingredients to try and within a few years there were absolutely loads of them thrust at the eager carper. Some were excellent. some should never have seen the light of day! However, some have stood the test of time and become carp catching legends - you'll find plenty of them in our range.

So, in our range you'll only find proven baits, ones I use myself. I'm very proud of our boilie range, but thinking that boilies are the only way to catch carp is missing out on lots of other possibilities. There are times when I need hemp, pellets and particles - so you'll find them all here too. Hopefully you'll see that this isn't just a sales list. I've tried to give you more understanding of what works and why. I want to take away some of the mystery of bait, show you the logic and thinking so you can see why the baits work and when best to use them. I'm still out there on the bank as much as I ever was, forever trying out new ideas and baits - if you've any questions give me a call or Email, I'll be glad to help.

Take a browse. If you've lost faith in the baits you are using then try ours. I assure you they are proven, so you are left with no doubt in your mind. If you are not getting action on these baits then you either need to check your rig or cast to a different area. Bait worries should be a thing of the past. Get out there and have some fun!
